Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Heading out on its first road trip of the spring season, the Newman tennis team dropped a pair of matches over the weekend against tough competition.
The Jets (3-4) started off the trip against No. 12 Drury Friday night. Enrique Coiras grabbed a straight-set win at No. 6 singles, and two Jets fell in a third-set super tiebreak as the Panthers (7-0) grabbed a 7-2 victory.
Newman had to make a quick turnaround for a neutral-site matchup against Lewis (2-2) Saturday afternoon. Diego Rojo won at No. 4 singles and teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles with Enrique Coiras. Lucas Norbiato and Szbin Pusztay also added singles wins, but the Flyers earned the tight 5-4 win.
The Jets head home to start a four-match homestand over the next two weeks, beginning with Washburn on March 3.
