WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman women's basketball team won two conference matchups last weekend as they split home and away games. The Jets continue to strive in conference play keeping themselves in the hunt atop the conference.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (16-8, 7-3 Heartland) were looking to take advantage of two quality opponents as they were looking to make moves in conference play. The Jets welcomed Arkansas-Fort Smith Wednesday and were able to pick up a good victory over a quality opponent 66-59. The Jets took on the Hilltoppers Saturday in San Antonio where the Jets were able to take advantage of some defensive stops and would take this game 65-60.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
The Rattlers (10-12, 4-5 Heartland) had a 1-1 weekend at home when the team welcomed St. Edward's and Lubbock Christian into Bill Greehey Arena. Thursday the Hilltoppers came to town and the Rattlers were looking for an opportunity to get out ahead early and get the early lead, the team was able to do that getting the victory 59-52. Saturday the team welcomed the Chaps looking to take advantage at home against a really good opponent, the Rattlers came up short in this game losing 64-39.

The Dustdevils (2-20, 0-8 Heartland) had a tough weekend at home losing to No. Lubbock Christian. The Dustdevils looked at this game for an opportunity to maybe stay with the Chaps but they were unable to stop the Chaps run and gun style of play and would lose this matchup 69-46.
