Close Matches Help The Jets Pick Up Road Victories Over The Weekend
Pueblo, Colo. — The Newman men and women's tennis teams played in five matches' over the weekend. The women played against Metro State, Colorado Mesa, and the University of Colorado State-Pueblo. The men played Colorado Mesa and the University of Colorado State-Pueblo.
The women, highlighted by Mirella D'Angelo Calvalcanti going three for three in singles and two for two in doubles. Liza Gerasimova went two for two in doubles, while Emily Young and Isabela Campos Bifano were two of three in the number one spot for doubles. Valada Litvinova was three for three in singles and three for three in doubles she did not lose or drop a set on the weekend.
The men, highlighted by Marcel Miasato who lost a close clinching match to Colorado Mesa's Will Agrittley 4/6, 6/4, and 6/4. In the match against CSU-Pueblo Arthur Justo who won both of his singles, matchups at the number one spot highlighted the Jets. Newman was able to pick up the match victory 4-2.
The Jets travel to Wichita Falls, Texas for the ITA South Central Regional September 21-23.
