No. 18 Jets Drop Home Finale to No. 10 Tigers - Frame Extends Win Streak to 10 Straight

WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 18 ranked Newman wrestling team dropped a tightly contested matchup against No. 10 ranked Fort Hays State Wednesday evening (Feb. 13) as the Tigers defeated the Jets 26-13. The Jets end dual play 3-7 for the year, while finishing 1-4 in the MIAA.

After the Jets fell behind 6-0 just 42 seconds into the dual, Sophomore Tyler Lawley (133-pounds) knotted the dual up 6-6 recording his team leading 12th pin just before the first period horn.

The Jets grabbed their first and lone lead of the dual as No. 8 ranked Kameron Frame (149-pounds) extended his winning streak to 10 straight with a 11-1 major decision win over Jonathon Ball giving the Jets a 10-9 match lead.

The De Soto, Kansas native Nate Panagakis ended the Tigers 6-0 run in a thrilling 7-5 sudden victory decision win over Aryus Jones, giving the Jets a chance trailing just 15-13 with three matches to go.

Fort Hays would put the match out of reach in the 197-pounds with a major decision ending the match on a 15-0 run claiming the match 26-13.

FINAL RESULTS

The Jets will now have 10 days to prepare for Regionals, which will take place (Feb. 23) in St. Charles, Mo. the time for the events has yet to be determined.
