SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Newman women's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat Saturday afternoon (Feb. 23) to the No. 18 ranked Southwest Baptist Bearcats.

In doubles, the Jets won all three doubles matches taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

In singles, the Jets 1-0 lead would be erased as SBU took the first three sets to begin singles play. The Jets would fight back evening the match up at 3-3 after wins by Emily Young in three sets and Mirella D'Angelo Calvalcanti won in two straight sets.

After Vlada Litvinova dropped the first set 6-1, Litvinova bounced back forcing a third and final set with a 6-3 second set win. Litvinova's comeback bid feel just short as the Bearcats took the third set 7-5 securing the match win 4-3.
