LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Newman men's and women's tennis teams posted 7-0 shutout victory's over Baker University Saturday morning (Mar. 9).

Women
The Jets swept the doubles point gaining the early match advantage, as No. 1 doubles Liza Gerasimova and Vlada Litvinova and No. 3 doubles Mirella Calvalcanti and Marian Gaviria posted 6-2 wins. No. 2 doubles Emily Young and Isabela Bifano completed the sweep with a 6-1 match win.

In was all Newman in singles action. After victories from Litvinova and Gerasimova, Cavalvanti sealed the team win as she defeated Lanae Shelly 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Bifano, Gaviria and Young also added an individual win to their season total.

Men
The Jets opened the match up claiming all three doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead. Lauri Soome and Ian Clifton started things off by winning 6-1 at No. 3 and then No. 1 doubles Arthur Juston and Marcel Miasato secured the doubles point with 6-2 win followed up by No. 2 doubles Szbin Pustay and Teodor Antelj securing a double sweep, 6-2.

The Jets then swept all six singles matches to earn the 7-0 victory, as each individual won in straight two sets.
