WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman softball team fell 10-0 in the final game Sunday afternoon (Mar. 31) to Oklahoma Christian. The loss moves the Jets to 8-23 on the season and drops their Heartland Conference record to 2-18.
Newman scratched out just two hits against Madison Hagood, who tossed a complete game with a strikeout and just one walk. The Jets had only one runner reach third base in the game. Lauren Kuhrt, and Lacey Colvin were the lone Jets who collected hits to begin the first and second innings.
Chantel Purcella (3-7) got the start in the center circle for the Jets going 2.2-innings allowing six runs on eight hits while fanning one Eagles batter.
Lauren Ogden came on in relief for just the second time this year going 2.1-innings allowing four runs (3-earned) allowing six hits, one walk and punching out one OC hitter.
The Jets will look to snap a season worst eight game skid tomorrow afternoon (Apr. 1) in non-conference action on the road against William Jewell.
