WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman men's and women's tennis teams put together a strong showing Monday afternoon (Apr. 1) sweeping both matches against the Swedes of Bethany College.

Women's

Facing a shorthanded Bethany squad, the Jets claimed the match without any matches played already as the Swede's only dressed two for the match. No. 1 doubles, Emily Wise and Emily Young cruised to a 6-1 win over the Swede's lone doubles team.

The Jets won each singles match as No. 1 Mirella Calvalcanti and No. 2 Mariana Gaviria cruised to 6-0, 6-0 straight set victories.

Men's

Blake Crawford and Szbin Pusztay cruised in No. 2 doubles giving the Jets an early 1-0 lead for the doubles point. No. 1 doubles, Athur Esteves Justo and Lauri Soome secured the doubles point for the Jets holding off a late rally by the Swede's winning 7-5.

In singles action, No. 1 Esteves Justo, No. 3 Blake Crawford and No. 5 Szbin Pusztay secured the match winning in two-straight sets guiding Newman to a 4-0 shutout win.
