Arkansas City, Kan. – The Newman Women's Tennis team traveled down south to take on the Tiger of Cowley Community College. Despite putting up a valiant effort, the Jets would come up just short of a victory.

Doubles – Newman played well in doubles matches winning two of the three. Vlada Litvinova and Liza Gerasimova defeated Takalani Molaoa and Andrea Rodriguez, 6-4. Emily Young and Isabela Campos Bifano defeated Ane Ibarra and Georgina Kaindoah, 6-4. But, Mariana Gaviria and Mirella D'Angelo Calvalcanti were defeated by Courtenay Leonard and Arianna Lumanog, 6-4.

Singles – Litvinova, playing #1 singles, would defeat Molaoa, 7-6(10-2), 7-6 (10-2). Gerasimova would fall to Kaindoah, 6-1, 6-1. Emily Young would also fall losing to Ibarra, 7-6 (10-2), 6-2. Bifano would drop the first set, but would go on to win her match against Rodriguez, 4-6, 6-2, 10-3. Gaviria would end up dropping her match to Leonard, 6-0, 6-4. Cavalcanti would end up losing to Lumanog,7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

The Jets will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 28^th against Tabor College in Wichita, Kan.
