WICHITA, Kan. - After moving the games back a day due to weather, Newman and Sterling moved their games to Two Rivers Youth Complex to be able to get them in. Newman would win both games with scores of 2-0 and 1-0.
In game one, Newman would get their two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Bailey Bugner would drive a 2 run homerun to left center that would score
Lacey Colvin. Aside from that inning, neither team got much of anything going as Sterling would only get 3 total hits and Newman 6.Â
Lacey Colvin,
Bailey Bugner and
Emma Eck each went 2 for 3 for all of Newman's hits.
In game two, neither team would plate a run until the bottom of the seventh when
Lauren Kuhrt would drive in Katherin Stanford for the walk-off win. Much like game one, neither team would get many hits as Sterling would get 4 and Newman 5.Â
Lauren Kuhrt,
Shanda Cox,
Lacey Colvin,
Sierra Spurlock and Katherin Stanford would all get a hit apiece for all 5 of Newman's hits in the contest.
