NEWTON, Kan. - The Newman Women's Cross Country team traveled the short trip up I-135 to compete in the Cottonwood Challenge this morning. They had a good showing for their first official race of the season as
Lauren Nutting led the Jets with a second place finish and a time of 19:46, just 14 seconds behind the winner Patricia Koma of Cloud County. Newman finished in fifth place of seven teams with a total time of 1:50:47 just 0.33 seconds from fourth place Friends and only 0.45 seconds from third place Kansas Wesleyan.
