LAST TIME OUT
Central Missouri (8-2, 8-2) would start the game on a 7-2 run before
Sydney Nilles would swish a three point basket to make the score 7-5 with 6:11 left in the first quarter. After both teams would exchange baskets, the Jets would end the quarter on a 5-2 run to hold a 3 point lead going into the second quarter, 14-11. The Jennies would once again start hot to begin the quarter as they would build up a 16-14 lead with 6:42 left. For the rest of the half, both teams would continue battle back and forth with UCM taking a 23-21 lead into the intermission. Continuing the trend, the Jennies would start the second half off start as they would use an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 8, 31-23 with 6:31 left in the third quarter. The Jets would cut the deficit to three 31-28 after a
Haley Albers three point basket. The Jennies would score the final 4 points of the quarter to take a 39-33 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Newman would be able to get right back into the contest taking their first lead of the half with just over six minutes left in regulation. The Jets would be able to get there lead up to three points with just over three minutes left to play. Central Missouri would close out the game on a 14-5 run to defeat the upset minded Jets, 58-52.
THE COACHES
Darin Spence begins his ninth season as the Jets head coach, leading the Jets to a 3-7, 3-7 in the MIAA record so far in the 2020-21 season. Spence has compiled a 593 wins as a head women's basketball coach over a 29-year span across NCAA Division I and Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA schools. His eight years with the Jets have seen him amass a record of 120-112 overall and a 59-53 mark in Heartland Conference play. Under Spence's tenure, the Jets reached the Heartland Conference tournament in six of his seven seasons. Before coming to Newman, Spence spent one season at Barton Community College and eight seasons at Division I New Mexico State.
Austin Meyer is in his third season as Northwest Missouri State's Women's Basketball Head Coach. Meyer served as a full time member of the men's basketball staff at Northwest from 2008-18. Starting in 2015, he served as the program's associate head coach.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the second meeting between these two schools with the Bearcats leading the series 1-0 over Newman including last years double overtime thriller 70-67 that went in favor of the Bearcats in Wichita, Kansas.
LAST TIME VS NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE
For the majority of this contest Newman and NWMSU were neck and neck with both teams largest lead being 5 points. In the final seconds of regulation, with the Jets trailing by two,
Kaitlyn Potter drove into the lane and made a layup to tie the game at 54 with three seconds left to force overtime. We would remain tied at the end of the first overtime with the score 59-59. In the second overtime, NWMSU would take a four point lead with 22 seconds left. A layup by
Kaitlyn Potter would cut the deficit to two with 10 seconds left 69-67. Northwest Missouri State (9-10, 4-6) would make one of two free throws to make the score 70-67 with 9 seconds left. Newman would have one last chance as
Kaitlyn Potter had a good look at a three but hit it off the back of the rim as Northwest Missouri State defeated Newman 70-67.
