LAST TIME OUT
The Jets would begin the game on a 15-1 run to gain the early advantage. Rogers State would stop the run on a jumper with 4:16 left. Both teams would exchange baskets the rest of the quarter with the Jets taking a 17-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Newman would continue to build on their lead until Rogers State would go on a run. The Hillcats would cut the Jets lead down to 6 points with 1:58 left beforeÂ
Abbey George made a jumper that would give the Jets an 8 point lead, 27-19 going into halftime. In the third quarter, Rogers State would keep chipping away at the Newman lead to eventually tie the game up at 31-31. Both teams would exchange baskets and we would go into the final quarter tied 33-33. In the fourth quarter, Newman would go on a 7-0 run to lead 42-35 with 5:46 left. Rogers State would add in a score on a jumper and then Newman would respond with a 10-0 run to gain a 15 point advantage 52-37 with 2:16 left. Newman would continue controlling the fourth quarter as they would defeat Rogers State 60-47 outscoring the Hillcats 27-14 in the final quarter.
THE COACHES
Darin Spence begins his ninth season as the Jets head coach, leading the Jets to a 4-16, 4-16 in the MIAA record so far in the 2020-21 season. Spence has compiled a 594 wins as a head women's basketball coach over a 29-year span across NCAA Division I and Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA schools. His eight years with the Jets have seen him amass a record of 120-112 overall and a 59-53 mark in Heartland Conference play. Under Spence's tenure, the Jets reached the Heartland Conference tournament in six of his seven seasons. Before coming to Newman, Spence spent one season at Barton Community College and eight seasons at Division I New Mexico State.
Andrea Mize is in her first season as the Head Coach of the Blue Tigers. Before coming to Lincoln, Mize spent the past two years as the head coach at Central Florida College, where she led the Patriots to 31 victories and a berth in the FCSAA State/NJCAA District tournament. Mize took over a program that had won just eight games and increased its win total each season, improving to 12 wins in 2018-19 and a 19-victory campaign in 2019-20. The Patriots also improved in nearly every statistical category over the past two seasons, including on offense, where CFC went from average 62.6 points per game before Mize arrived to averaging 74.3 points this past season.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the tenth meeting between these two schools with the Jets leading the series 6-3 over Lincoln.
LAST TIME VS LINCOLN
After falling behind early, the Jets would respond by making back-to-back three point baskets to take the 6-3 lead with 7:50 left in the first quarter. With the score 12-11 in favor of the Blue Tigers, Newman would go on a 7-0 run to gain the six point advantage with just over two minutes left in the opening quarter. The Blue Tigers would outscore the Jets 7-5 to close out the quarter as the Jets would take a 23-19 lead going into the second quarter. The Jets would start the quarter on a 8-2 run expanding their lead 31-21. Newman would be able to stretch their lead to as much as 11 points in the quarter before Lincoln would cut the Jets lead to 36-29 going into the intermission after scoring the final four points of the half. Lincoln (0-8, 0-8) would begin the second half on a 6-2 run cutting the Jets lead to three, 38-35 just over two minutes into the half. Both teams would exchange baskets for most of the quarter and the Jets would go to the final period with a four point lead, 51-47. In the final period, the Jets would start to pull away with the contest as they would outscore the Blue Tigers 30-12 in the final period. Newman would gain their largest lead of the game after
Amoni White made two free throws with 40 seconds left to give the Jets an 81-59 lead as the Jets would snap a four game losing streak.
