SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Over the weekend, the Newman Men's Tennis team traveled to Springfield, Missouri to take on Evangel College and Ouachita Baptist. The Jets were able to pick up the win over Evangel College 7-0, but would fall to Ouachita Baptist 6-1.
Newman would win both of the doubles matches in this contest. In the first matchup,
Arthur Esteves Justo and
Gustavo Gil would defeat Wong/McIlwraith 6-2.
Luca Penteado and
Gabriel Yaguar would defeat Teel/Coryell 6-0.
Justo, playing #1 singles, would defeat Wong 6-1, 6-0.
Teodor Antelj defeated McIlwraith 6-0, 6-0. Gil would defeat Coryell 6-0, 6-0. Yaguar defeated Teel 6-0, 6-2. Penteado would defeat Letterman 8-0.
Jarrod Nowak would defeat Carpenter 8-1.
In the doubles matches against Ouachita Baptist the Jets would would only pick up a win in one of the three matches giving the point to the Tigers. In the first doubles match,
Arthur Esteves Justo and
Gustavo Gil would defeat Parzajuk/Solorzano 6-4.
Luca Penteado and
Gabriel Yaguar would fall to Oliveira/Kearney 6-1.
Jarrod Nowak and
Teodor Antelj would fall to Fuerschuss/Docters 6-2.
Justo, would play #1 singles for the Jets in this matchup falling to Oliveira 6-0, 6-3. Antelj would fall in three sets 2-6, 6-1, 7-5. Yaguar would fall to Fuerschuss 6-4, 7-5. Gil would fall to Blanchar 6-4, 6-1. Penteado would get the only win in singles for the Jets with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Solorzano 6-3, 6-1. In the final match, Nowak would fall to Docters in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 10-3.
