WICHITA, Kan. – The Women's Tennis team took on Sterling College and Barton Community College last week going 1-1. The Jets would defeat the Sterling Warriors 7-0 and would fall to the Barton Cougars 6-1.
 
Emily Young and Antonia Ramos would win their doubles match against Thrasher and Marin 6-1. Marie Brunet and Isabela Campos Bifano would defeat Carlson and Comley 6-1. Lauren Esfeld and Mirella D'Angelo Cavalcanti would complete the doubles sweep with a 6-0 victory.
 
Young would defeat Thrasher in singles 6-4, 6-0. Brunet would take on Marin and defeat her 6-1, 6-2. Campos Bifano would defeat Carlson without giving up a set 6-0, 6-0. Ramos would defeat Comley 8-3. Cavalcanti would take on Swartz and give up just one set point as Cavalcanti would win 6-0, 6-1. Esfeld would win her match 8-1 to complete the sweep of the day for the Jets.
 
Against the Cougars, Young and Ramos would lose their doubles match 6-4 to De Souza and Nishimura. Campos Bifano and Brunet would pick up the Jets only doubles victory 6-4. Cavalcanti and Esfeld would fall 6-2 to give the Cougars the doubles point.
 
Young would drop her #1 singles match 6-2, 6-3. Brunet would fall to De Souza 6-0, 6-2. Campos Bifano would play a close match with Nishimura but would ultimately fall 7-5, 7-6(3). Ramos would lose her singles match 7-6(3), 3-0. Cavalcanti would pick up the only singles win for the Jets as she would defeat Hernandez 7-5, 6-2.
 
The Jets will be back in action on Friday March 26^th as they open up MIAA Conference play against the Northwest Bearcats in Maryville, Mo.
