KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Over the weekend the Women's Tennis team took on William Jewell and Doane. On Friday, Newman would defeat William Jewell 7-0 and on Saturday, the Jets would beat Doane 7-0.
Newman would sweep doubles against William Jewell to take the point.
Emily Young and
Mirella D'Angelo Cavalcanti would take down Parrish and Yamate 6-1.
Isabela Campos Bifano and
Marie Brunet would defeat Evans and Esau 6-0.
Brunet, playing #1 singles, would defeat her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Campos Bifano playing in the #2 singles spot would also win in two sets 6-1, 6-0.
Antonia Ramos would win her singles match 6-1, 6-1. Cavalcanti would win the point for the Jets 6-4, 6-4. Young and
Lauren Esfeld would both win by default as Newman would give up just five total sets to William Jewell on the day.
On Saturday, in doubles,Young and Ramos would pair up to take down Doane's Weston and Lauby 6-2. Campos Bifano and Brunet would play together and would defeat Macke and Van Der Torre 6-0. In the final doubles match, Cavalcanti and Esfeld would defeat Ngo and Stadler 6-1.Â
Young would play in the #1 singles spot in this match as she would win 6-1, 6-1 over Weston. Brunet would win her match 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-1. Campos Bifano would win 6-2, 6-3 over Lauby. Ramos would defeat Van Der Torre 6-1, 6-0.Â
Cavalcanti would beat Ngo 6-1, 6-0. Esfeld would secure the last point for the Jets as they would sweep the weekend not losing a single point.
Newman will be back on the court on Friday March 12 in Springfield, Mo. as they take on Evangel College.
