WICHITA, Kan. – Over the weekend, the Newman Jets Women's Tennis team hosted Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma. The Jets would fall in a close match to Northeastern State 4-3, before losing to Central Oklahoma 7-0.
Against Northeastern State,
Antonia Ramos and
Emily Young would fall to Carnelutti and Vidhere 6-2.
Isabela Campos Bifano and
Marie Brunet would pick up the win over Popova and Jayaprakash 6-4.
Mirella D'Angelo Cavalcanti and
Lauren Esfeld would drop their match over Carvalho and Romero 6-2.
In singles, Young would pick up the win over Vidhere in three sets 5-7, 6-2, 10-5. Bifano would takedown Popova in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Brunet defeat Carnelutti in another three set thriller, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0. Ramos would fall to Carvalho 6-3, 6-3. Cavalcanti would fall in her match in straight sets 7-5, 6-0. In the final singles match, Esfeld would drop a pair of 6-0 sets.
Against the Bronchos, Young and Ramos would fall to Abidullina and Dunlap 7-5. Brunet and Bifano would fall 6-2. Cavalcanti and Esfeld would fall in their match to Buntrock and Boyar 6-1.
In Singles action, Young would fall to Abidullina 6-1, 6-2. Bifano would also drop her match to Canete 6-0, 6-0. Brunet would fall in her match 6-2, 7-5. Ramos would fall in her match to Buntro 6-2, 6-2. Cavalcanti would fall to Boyar in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. In the final singles match Esfeld would fall to Lexus Penn 6-0, 6-2.
The Jets will be back in action on Wednesday, April 14
th as they take on Bethany College at 1:00 pm.
