TOPEKA, Kans. – The Newman Men's Golf team competed in the Washburn Invitational on Monday and Tuesday and looked for improvement in the 3 round tournament at the Topeka Country Club.
Justin Looper led the Jets for the 2nd week in a row, finishing tied for 27th with a score of +16 after shooting 229 on the 3 round span. Looper ended day 1 in the top 15.
Sophomore Bailor Harris led the way in day 2 posting a team best 79 on the day. Harris lowered his score each round going 83, 82, 79. Harris tied with his teammate Jackson Lewis who also finished tied for 76th posting a 250 score. Lewis dropped 10 strokes off his round 1 score (88) in round 2 (78) for a day 1 final of 166 (+37)
Newman placed 12th in the Washburn Invitational.
Newman returns to action and will host the Newman Invitational on October 17th-18th.
