WICHITA, Kan. – Newman Tennis squared off against MSU Denver, Rockhurst and William Jewell over the weekend.

Men:

Women:
Fri. 3/4 vs. MSU Denver w 5-2
Sat. 3/5 @ Rockhurst L 3-4

The men lost three contested matchups.  The Jets lost the three matchups over the weekend by a total of three points.

At home, the Jets lost the doubles point and split the singles with wins by Ali Mounir, Gustavo Gil and Jarrod Nowak.  Saturday's matchup was a late one.  The Hawks and Jets battled late into the night Saturday.  It was some more of the same as it was Pedja Kolaric, Gil and Nowak picking up the wins singles.  On Sunday, after a quick turnaround, Kolaric, Gil and Nowak found the same luck, but the Jets were unable to to find that elusive fourth victory.

A bright spot of the weekend was Gustavo Gil who went 6-0 in matches played.  He and his doubles partner, Luca Penteado won all of their doubles #2 matchups and Gil swept the weekend individually at the #4 spot.

On the women's side, the Jets went a pleasant 2-1 on a long weekend of matches.  The Jets won their home match 5-2 over MSU Denver then dropped a match to Rockhurst Saturday night.

On Sunday, Coach Shella Augspurger's Women's team was on a mission.  The Jets swept every match played.  In doubles, pairings, Dana Issabayeva and Ana Zeikidze, Isabela Campos Bifano and Mirella Cavalcanti & Martina Lolli and Marie Brunet, swept the Cardinals to secure the doubles point.  Up 1-0 all 6 singles players won their match.  Issabayeva, Zeikidze, Bifano, Brunet, Amber Hands and Cavalcanti downed their opponents with little to no resistance.

Dana Issabayeva went a perfect 6-0 sweeping all her matches on the eekend in top doubles pairing and at number one in singles.
