KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA announced its final Academic Awards of 2021-22 on Friday as 943 Newcomers were recognized by the conference for their academic achievement.

63 Jets were recognized across 14 MIAA sponsored sports. Four Jets earned Scholar-Athlete honors while 10 earned Academic Excellence Recognition.  A description of the awards and list of academic honor roll is included below.

To be considered as a first-year or transfer student-athlete, the individual had not completed two semesters, excluding summer terms, at their current institution when they competed in their sport.

The prestigious MIAA Academic Excellence Award was achieved by 99 first-year and transfer student-athletes. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

The Scholar-Athlete list for first-year and transfer student-athletes includes over 50 student-athletes. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. If competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, the student-athlete must earn All-MIAA honors.

The achievement of Academic Honor Roll was accomplished by 943 student-athletes. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution.
