EDMOND, Okla. - Women's basketball traveled to Edmond, Oklahoma for their biggest game of the season, looking to stay in the top 10 of the MIAA with their tournament hopes alive while facing a UCO team who was looking to move up in the rankings and earn a spot in the top 10 as both Newman and UCO went into today's matchup with 3 conference wins.
UCO would come out on top in today's contest 71-57 behind 39.1% shooting, spearheaded by Aliyah Llanusa's 20 points. 4 Bronchos would finish the game reaching double digit scoring.
Newman would go into the half down 33-24, being kept into the game by lights out shooting from
Carissa Beck would drain 5 three pointers to cap off a 17 point half. That hot streak of 3's would cool off quickly as Beck was held to 0 points the rest of the game.
Britney Ho continued her dominant streak of double doubles as she posted 17 points and a career high 14 rebounds to earn her 4th straight double double and her 6th of the season. Who went into the half with 5 points and 10 rebounds before recording her double double midway through the 3rd quarter.
The Jets never led in the game. The Bronchos held the rest of the team to low scoring while Beck and Ho would lead the way with 17 points each.
Newman will head back to Wichita before leaving for Missouri Southern on Thursday to face the Lions in a matchup set for 5:30 PM.
