QUINCY, IL. - The Men's and Women's Tennis teams completed their fall season, with victories over Quincy and Missouri Valley College over the weekend.
The Jets may have taken on their toughest competition yet against Quincy in the first match of the weekend, but the Jets would find a way to prevail.
Several of the men's contests with the Hawks went to three sets, but the Jets would win four of the six matches. The two losses for the Jets were the only losses Newman had taken during the fall season.
The men would also win in doubles, with two wins and one loss, giving the men an overall victory of 5-2.
The Women would also win by the same score against the Hawks. They took five out of six singles matches, and although they lost their doubles competition overall for the first time this season, still won one of their doubles. The final score was 5-2 in favor of Newman.
The Women would get stronger in their matches against Missouri Valley College, sweeping them with an emphatic end to the fall season.
Ana Zeikidze would once again not a allow a single point through two sets, leading the women to a 4-0 record on the day. The women would also rebound in doubles competition, winning all three contests, and allowing just a single point through the three matches.
The Men would have another tough contest, getting the 4-3 win in the end. A few of the men's matches went to extra sets, with Missouri Valley College being able to win three of the six singles matches.
Despite the tie in singles competition, the men would sweep the doubles matches to give them yet another win in the fall season.
The men finish the fall season with a 4-0 record and the women finish with a 5-0 record.
Both teams will compete in an inter-squad match next Saturday to put a bow on the perfect fall season. The spring schedule for both programs will be released at a later date.
