WICHITA - Women's Basketball played their first ranked opposition of the season, as they hosted the #3 Central Missouri Jennies in the second conference game of the season.
The Jets came painstakingly close to a conference win against Lincoln on Thursday, but would lose by three.
The Jets got off to a decent start, getting a three point lead in the first quarter. It would be the only lead that Newman would have over the course of the day.
The Jennies were up by 22 at half, and would continue to grow the lead in the second half as the Jets could not find consistency on either side of the ball.
The young Jets team struggled against one of the nations best today, but still had some bright spots and were more competitive against the Jennies than they were last year.
Senior
Carissa Beck had 15 of her 16 points from three, in which was a season high for Beck from beyond the arc. No other Jets were able to get to double digits, but
Amiya Josey and
Carli Carlson both contributed 8 points.
The Jets will return to the road next week as they will take on Pittsburg State on Thursday and Missouri Southern on Saturday.
