WICHITA- The Jets hosted No.4 Central Oklahoma for an MIAA matchup. Central Oklahoma is the second ranked team that Newman has faced this year in conference play.
Game 1:
The Bronchos came out with hot bats, scoring 4 in the top of the first inning. The Jets were unable to answer back to the Broncho's offense.
The Jets recorded 4 hits through 5 innings. Central Oklahoma's pitching and hitting was too tough for Newman to bounce back.
The Jets took the loss 10-0.
Game 2:
Central Oklahoma got on the board fast with 2 runs in the first. However, the Jets were able to punch back with a run of their own in the bottom of the 1st inning, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Samantha Gutierrez that hit Gianna Navarro in.
The Bronchos came out with a big 2nd inning, scoring 3 runs. This time, the Jets were unable to piece their offense together, leaving 3 runners on with no runs.
In the third inning, pitching from Megan Walz and the Jets defense held the Bronchos scoreless. The Bronchos were able to hold Newman scoreless in the bottom of the inning too.
UCO struck again in the top of the 4th inning with 1 run.
A solid defensive inning in the 7th, with 3 up and 3 down, allowed Newman to be in a position to cut the lead. However, the Jets were unable to piece their offense together and fell 6-1.
Navarro went 2-4 from the plate scoring once.
