WICHITA - On October 15
th at 7:00 p.m., Newman Athletics is bringing Jet Madness to Fugate Gymnasium. The event features men's and women's basketball intrasquads, cheer and dance performances, and many student involved activities.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Students are highly encouraged to wear red. Upon entrance to the event, students will put their name into a raffle. Throughout the night, names will be drawn for participation in contests and prizes. Some of the competitions during the evening include a full court putt, a half-court shot, basketball musical chairs, and more.
There will be prizes for any participant that wins these competitions.
The biggest event that students can be involved in is a two-person team skills challenge. There will be representatives from sports, on campus clubs and organizations. The skills challenge will be in between the women's basketball scrimmage and the men's basketball scrimmage.
Skills Challenge Rules:
· Two people per team.
· One member from each team starts with the ball on opposite ends.
· The player with the ball has to dribble down the floor to make a 3-point basket while their teammate rebounds
· Once a basket is made, the other team must make a 3-pointer at the opposite end
· When both have made their 3's, the team will race to cross half-court before their opponent
· The winner of the 8-10 team bracket will face men's and women's basketball players in a 3-point contest
The Newman Women's Basketball team will scrimmage following team introductions. We will get to see returning players from last season and some new players. After the women's scrimmage concludes, the dance team will perform. Then after Dance performs, the skills challenge will start. To wrap up the night we will get to see the Men's Basketball team scrimmage as well as a performance from the cheer team.
Make sure to come out to Jet Madness on October 15
th from 7:00-9:00 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a fun filled night. Make sure to bring your friends, energy and wear red!
