Springfield, Mo. - Women's Tennis headed to Springfield to play two challenging matches this past weekend against the University of Illinois Springfield and Drury. The Jets were coming off two 7-0 sweeps over their last two opponents. Both matches were decided in third set play, proving how competitive the Jets are this season.

The Jets got off to a great start in the Saturday match winning the doubles point after both Antonia Ramos and Dana Issabayeva, and Luna Feillon and Sofiko Zeikidze won their respective matches 6-2.

Dana Issabayeva looked for her second win of the day in the first singles match of the day. After a long and combative match, the Prairie Star player got the win leaving a final 4-6, 6-2, 4-6 score.

Ani Zeikidze delivered another impressive performance for the Jets with a 6-0, 6-4 win. With that result Zeikidze secured her third consecutive singles.

Nicole Bono fought her way to a third set after winning the second set 7-5 but wasn't able to finish the comeback after an exhausting first couple of sets.

Freshman Luna Feillon showcased her skills and maturity, once again, winning her second match of the day and staying in the match after her opponent won the second set leaving a final 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.

The Sunday match was expected to be a tough one since the Panthers hadn't lost a match yet.

The match started with the Jets nor being able to win any of the doubles matches. Despite not being able to win the match, partners Antonia Ramos and Dana Issabayeva were able to put up a good fight forcing their opponents to a 4-6 final result.

Issabayeva went back to winning ways in singles after securing a three set comeback win in a thrilling match. Losing the first set 4-6, winning the second 6-2 and finishing the match with a 6-3 set.

Zeikidze was very close to completing her fourth straight singles win but came just short in another three set match. After winning the first set 6-2, Zeikidze suffered some back problems in the second set that would lead to a 1-6 score. Battling in the last set, Zeikidze was able to keep the score close in the last set with a final 5-7 score.

Nicole Bono lost in another unfortunate third set match. Controlling the first set 6-2 and keeping a close 4-6 second set, the third set decider went to the Panthers player 5-7.

Luna Feillon wrapped up an almost perfect weekend winning her third match of the weekend in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
