WICHITA – Women's Tennis grabbed their first two home wins of the spring season, sweeping both Kansas Wesleyan and Friends this weekend.
The Ladies were coming off close losses to Illinois-Springfield and Drury several weeks ago, and rebounded with some dominant performances over the Coyotes and Falcons
Kansas Wesleyan
The Jets made easy work of the Coyotes, with only five points surrendered through six singles matches.
Anna Zeikidze,
Marie Brunet,
Nicole Bono, Luna Fellion and
Martina Lolli all swept their opponents without much trouble, with all of them winning both match sets 6-0.
Dana Issabyeva won her match against Kansas Wesleyan's top seed, including a hard fought 6-3 victory in the second set.
The Jets also went undefeated in doubles competition, sweeping one and winning by a fair margin in the other two.
Friends
The Jets would earn another sweep, defeating Friends 7-0 on Saturday.
Two of six singles contests were straight sweeps, as Issabyeva and Lolli both won 6-0.
Anna Zeikidze played in a tough match but prevailed in the end. Her first set was decided by just two points, but in the second set won handily.
The doubles matches were much closer than they were on Friday against the Coyotes, but the Jets still won all three, nonetheless.
The Jets will be back in action on Wednesday, taking on Southwestern College at 2 pm.
