Jets overplay Southwestern in another powerful team win

WICHITA - Newman confirmed their good form with a third consecutive win, beating Southwestern this past Wednesday. The Jets bounced back after a couple of unfortunate results with two wins over Friends and Kansas Wesleyan. The match was very important for the Jets to confirm their good form and gain confidence for the upcoming matches.

 

The doubles point went quickly to the Jets after two powerful 6-0 performances from Luca Penteado and Andrea Bramati, and Isfan Makhmudov and Ali Mounir. Both doubles partners have been performing very well in the last couple matches. 

 

The Jinx fought back in the number one doubles match defeating partners Kurt Bruckner and Nicolo Lippolis in a thrilling 5-7 match. 

 

Ali Mounir delivered another great performance in the number one spot. The Jinx player put up a fight in the second set, but Mounir was able to win the match in straight sets 6-3, 7-5.

 

Isfan Makhmudov won his match with a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 result to confirm his comeback to competitive single matches. 

 

Kurt Bruckner played at an unusual number three spot, but had another impressive match to clinch the win for the Jets. Bruckner won his match 6-1, 6-1 continuing his great form in singles. 

 

Luca Penteado won his second match of the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Penteado played another great match to prepare for the upcoming conference matches where he will be key to add points for the Jets. 

 

Andrea Torrini beat his opponent 6-0, 6-1 in an unchallenged match that didn't require a lot of effort but did demand concentration to not give up any games. 

 

Enrico Belardo topped off the match for the Jets with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 match.

 

Upcoming:

The Jets will travel to Durant, Oklahoma this Saturday to play Southeastern Oklahoma State in their first out of four away matches.
