WICHITA -Women's Tennis celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon after a matchup with the number thirty five Missouri Western Griffons. The Jets were looking to end the season on a high note, after a very competitive season that saw them compete against some of the best teams in the country and have options to qualify for post season up until the last days. Bad weather in the area forced the coaches to move the matches indoor.
The Jets were coming off of a close match against the Northeastern State RiverHawks with a 2-5 final score where little details decided the winner of a match that could have gone either way, once again. Women's Tennis has competed in all of their matches, with no exceptions. They have pushed their rivals to play their best tennis in order to beat them.
With the emotion of being the last game for some of the players, the Jets entered the courts ready to go.
The match started with the closest possible doubles matches, forecasting the great matchup for the last match of the season.
The Jets won the first doubles match at court number two after a titanic effort from partners
Dana Issabayeva and
Antonia Ramos, who claimed, that way, her first win of the day.
The matches at court number one and three both went to a deciding tie breaker, showing how close the matches were.
After being down 5-4, the Zeikidze cousins were able to tie the match at six games to force a tie breaker. They ended up losing the match, but they battled and gave everything they had, leaving no regrets on the court.
Partners and Seniors
Martina Lolli and
Marie Brunet also forced a tie breaker to decide their match. With Lolli clearly battling with some physical problems, the Seniors gave everything they had to win the match, but some unfortunate points didn't allow them to finish the collegiate career with a win.
Martina has been one of the captains of the team and has been an example of leadership and resilience in her years as a Jet. She wasn't able to compete in singles due to an injury but she was recognized for her contributions to the program after the match.
Dana Issabayeva started the singles play. Facing a very tough opponent, Issabayeva wasn't able to get the win in the last match of the season. Dana has been one of the best players in the country all season long, getting up to thirty in the ITA rankings. She has showcased some unreal tennis and will be someone to keep an eye on in the upcoming season.
Ani Zeikidze gave it all to try to get another win for the Jets but was denied by a great opponent. Playing at number two, Ana will be someone to keep an eye out for in the following season.

Luna Feillon played a great second set against tough competition. She has played some very good tennis and has had a lot of playing time as a Freshman which will help her for the upcoming season. She will be one of the leaders for the Jets in the upcoming years.
Nicole Bono ended her season with a tough matchup at number five. Nicole has been very consistent throughout the year and will look to continue doing that in the following year. She is and will be one of the leaders on the team.
