Jets Tennis finds two wins at the Pueblo Duals

Men’s and Women’s Tennis travel to Colorado for three matches

PUEBLO, Colo.- Men's and Women's Tennis traveled to Colorado to face three opponents. On day one, the Jets faced Metro State and Colorado College.  On day two they faced Colorado Mesa. The Men's team picked up two wins against Metro State and Colorado College. 
 
Match One vs Metro State:
 
Men's Tennis: 
The men's team started out the match taking the doubles point. Ali Mounir and Nicolo Lippolis played in the number one doubles spot and secured their win 6-4. The #3 doubles pair, Tikhon Sorokin and Genaro Dagotto secured the doubles win with their 6-2 match win. The Jets started out the match on top. 
In the singles matches, Mounir played the number one spot. Mounir had a swift win in the first set, 6-3. The second set was a bigger battle, winning the second set 7-6 after winning the tie break, 7-1. David Javadov brought in a point for the Jets as the #3 in singles. Javadov fought back in the second set after dropping the first set, 4-6. The second set was a tough battle, but Javadov pulled through and won his second set through a tie break, 7-6. Andrea Bramati played in the #4 spot and secured his win with 2nd and 3rd set wins. With the three singles win and doubles win, the Jets took the team match 4-3 over MSU Denver. 
 
Women's Tennis:
In doubles the women were able to win the #3 doubles match with Luna Feillon and Anastassiya Kim winning, 6-4. However, that was the only doubles match the Jets were able to snag. 
In singles, Dana Issabayeva had a dominant win over Kim Heddes, taking the match 6-2 in both sets. Nicole Bono in the 3rd spot had a dominant first set winning 6-2. Her opponent fought back in the second set, but Bono was able to pull away with a win at 7-5. The Roadrunners took the team match, 5-2. 

 
Match Two vs. Colorado College:
 
Men's Tennis:
In the doubles match, Colorado College snagged the men's double point winning at the one and 3 spot. 
The Newman men came out in the singles ready to win. Mounir snagged his second win of the duals with a 6-2 victory in the first set, and then clinching the match in the third set. Lippolis played in the second spot where he dropped his first set, but fought back and won the next two sets to win his match. Bramati also was down early and dropped his first set, but just like Lippolis he found his win in the second and third sets. Andrea Torrini clinched the Jets win with a two set victory in the 5th spot, taking his match 7-6 via tie break and 6-3. The Jets come out on top against Colorado College, 4-3. 
 
Women's Tennis:
The Jets were able to win the doubles point thanks to wins by the #2 team, Issabayeva and Luciana Flores Uray and #3 teams, Feillon and Kim. Issabayeva kicked off the Jets in singles with a 6-4 and 6-1 dominant victory. Feillon was able to win her match with a first set tiebreak, and a third set win. However, no other Jets were able to pull away with wins in their singles matches, which allowed Colorado College to take the win, 4-3. 


Match Three vs. Colorado Mesa:
 
Men's Tennis:
The Jets swept the board in doubles. All three pairs won to give the Jets the early 1-0 lead. 
The singles started off with Mounir winning in two sets, with the second set being won in a tie breaker. At the 6th spot, Torrini brought in a win in three sets, with a first set and third set win. The Jets couldn't grab any more singles points and lost to Colorado Mesa, 4-3. 
 
Women's Tennis:
In doubles, the Jets couldn't snag a win to start the day.
Issabayeva won her singles match in two sets. Flores Urey and Feillon both won their singles matches in two sets. However, the Jets couldn't snag any more points and fell to Colorado Mesa, 4-3.
 
The Women's team will be back starting September 20th for the Central Regional ITA Individual championships. The Men's team is back in action at the Central Regional ITA Individual Championships starting on September 27th.
