WICHITA- Last week at the Skip Wagon Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma the Men's Golf team broke a program record in the second round of 18. The team broke the record for lowest team score in one round, with an eleven under par shooting a 269.
Grant Delsart led the Jets through the first 18 holes, using two birdies on the back nine to card an even-par 70.
Alphonse Hermansson shot two over in his opening round, recording four birdies throughout the day.
Braxton Muldoon and
Tomas Asgeirsson both turned in 73s in round one, with Muldoon carding two birdies and Asgeirsson four.
Noah Ahrens trailed just behind, finishing with a 75.
Round two was strong for the Jets, as every golfer improved their score by multiple strokes. Hermansson led the way with a team-best 64, highlighted by six birdies and 12 pars. Muldoon fired a 67, going three under par with five birdies to bring his two-round total to even par. Delsart and Asgeirsson each went one under par, posting scores of 69, while Ahrens shaved four strokes off his first-round total with a 71. This round would break the program record, with the team turning in the -11 scorecard for the round.
In the final round, Hermansson shot 72 to secure a 16th-place finish. Asgeirsson led the Jets in the closing round, shooting an even-par 70 to finish 27th overall. Muldoon and Ahrens each carded 74s to finish in 34th and 67th place, respectively. Delsart followed closely behind with a 78, earning a 50th-place finish. The Jets would take a seventh place finish, with help by the record-breaking round in round two.
