Women's Tennis edged out by Tigers

Jets fall just short to Ouachita Baptist, 4-3

EDMOND, Okla.-  Women's Tennis traveled to Oklahoma to face Ouachita Baptist. Against the Tigers, the Jets swept the doubles to earn the doubles point and won two singles matches but the Tigers were able to take the win at 4-3. 
 
The Jets won all three doubles matches. In the No. 1 spot Mariana Jimenez and Ani Zeikidze took their win at 7-5. Then in the No. 2 spot, Nicole Bono and Luciana Flores Urey won 6-4. Dana Issabayeva and Luna Feillon took the No.3 doubles match at 6-4. This gave the Jets the 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches. 
 
Jimenez gave the Jets their first singles win with a dominating 6-1 first set win followed by a 6-4 second set win. Feillon played in the No.4 singles spot and was unable to take a set from her opponent. This put the Jets up 2-1 with four singles matches to play. The Tigers were able to tie it at 2-2 after taking the No.1 singles match. The Tigers picked up another win at the No.6 spot which gave them the 3-2 lead. Issabayeva played in the No.2 spot, falling 6-3 in the first set but rallying back for a 7-5 second set win. In the third set, Issabayeva found herself down 3-0 and was able to battle back, but fell just short at 6-4. This clinched the win for the Tigers. Bono took her first set, 6-2 in the 3rd spot. Bono then fell short in the tiebreak of the second set, 6(7)-7(9) which forced a third set. In the third set Bono rallied to take the 6-4 win. 

The Tigers took the match, 4-3. 
 
The Jets are back in action on February 21st at Drury.
