WICHITA- The Jets hosted Missouri Western for their conference home opener. The Jets last conference game was at Central Oklahoma where they fell short at 5-2. Against the Griffons, the Jets took the win, 5-2.
The Jets started the day snagging the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, 
Mariana Jimenez and 
Ani Zeikidze, took their match at 6-3. 
Dana Issabayeva and 
Luna Feillon snagged the second doubles match for the Jets with a 6-2 win that secured the first point of the match. This made it 1-0 in favor of Newman heading into singles play. In singles play, the Griffons took the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. However, the Jets were able to take the No. 5 and No. 6 matches. At the No. 5 spot, Jimenez took her wins with dominance at 6-2 and 6-0. At the No. 6 spot, 
Luciana Flores Urey also dominated with 6-0 wins in both her sets. This put the Jets up 3-2 with two matches to be played. Feillon was able to clinch the match for the Jets at the No. 4 spot with a 6-3 win in the first match and a  6-4 win in the third set. This secured the Jets a 4-2 win. 
Dana Issabayeva closed out the Jets match at the No. 1 spot with a 7-6 win in the second set and a 6-2  win in the third set to make the final score, 5-2. 
 The Jets are back tomorrow at 10 AM to host the NW Missouri Bearcats.
