Ranked Bronchos take doubleheader from Jets

Jets faced No. 5 Central Oklahoma for Senior Day

 WICHITA- The Jets celebrated senior day against the No. 5 ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos. In game one, UCO won a very close matchup 1-0. In game two, the talented Bronchos team took the game, 17-0. 

Game One:
Through four innings played, the Jets defense and starting pitcher Kinyon DeCourte held the ranked Bronchos team to just one hit, that would later result in an unearned run scoring in the third inning. With this score, the Bronchos took the 1-0 lead. No hits or runs were recorded until the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh, the lead off Broncho batter got a hit but a great defensive effort by the Jets turned them away before they could add another run. In the bottom of the seventh frame Lani Dryden got the first and only hit of the game for Newman. Then, a sacrifice bunt by Tori Waggoner advanced her to second, getting the tying run within scoring distance. Two good battles from the Bronchos pitcher retired the side and ended the game 1-0 in favor of the ranked UCO. 

Player Notes:
- Lani Dryden recorded the only hit for the Jets.
-Kinyon DeCorte went for 7 innings, only allowed two hits, and didn't give up any earned runs. 

 Game Two:
The Bronchos offense put up a huge first inning, scoring seven runs off of five hits. The Jets finally escaped the inning with a 7-0 deficit to cut into. The Bronchos extended their lead in the top of the second with seven runs off of four hits. This took UCO to a 14-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second inning. Gianna Navarro added the Jets first hit in the bottom of the second inning, but the Jets offense could not bat her Navarro around. UCO held the 14 run lead heading into the third. In the top of the third, UCO added two more runs off of two hits to take the 16-0 lead. The Jets held the Bronchos to just one run in the top of the fourth, taking the game to a 17-0 deficit for Newman. Navarro added the Jets second hit of the day in the bottom of the fourth inning. However, with two outs the Jets were unable to bat her around, keeping the score at 17-0. Maddie Rae Romo and the Jets defense held the Bronchos scoreless in the top of the fifth. Romo faced three batters, striking out two. The Bronchos held off the Jets in the bottom of the fifth, taking the game 17-.0. 

 Player Notes:
- Navarro went 2-2 from the plate. 
- Romo struck out two of three total batters faced.
