KANSAS CITY, MO.- The MIAA released its Men's and Women's Tennis Academic Awards. Two Jets earned Scholar Athlete status and 13 earned a spot on the MIAA Honor Roll.
The Scholar Athlete distinction went to ten Men's Tennis athletes and 14 Women's Tennis athletes. A Scholar-Athlete is an individual that has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. They must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors for the current season.
Ali Mounir and Nicolo Lippolis went 10-11 on the season as doubles partners. The duo picked up wins against Barton CC, Emporia State (x3), Pratt CC, Metro State, Colorado Mesa, Sterling College, Northwest Missouri, and Nebraska-Kearney. Their last conference matchup was a 7-5 win against Nebraska-Kearney duos team who was also awarded honorable mention for their doubles team.
In the Academic Honor Roll category, 50 Women's Tennis athletes and 58 Men's Tennis athletes were mentioned, 13 Jets earned this honor. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The athletes who have earned this honor are listed below.
