TAHLEQUAH, Ok- The Jets fall to the RiverHawks in a tough contest, the final score being 72-88.
How it Happened:
– Northeastern got off to a strong start, scoring the first seven points of the game. Jaeden McMillin got the Jets on the board, making two free throws, followed directly by a Carli Carlson three. Alexis Martin and Monica Redondo followed with three-pointers to bring the Jets within 2 points of NSU. The first period would end with NSU up 23-17.
– Martin got the Jets started in the second period with another three-pointer. NSU responded quickly with two threes of their own. Paige Craft would then follow with a three-pointer for the Jets. With Craft making back-to-back free throws, the team jumped to six-for-six from the line. Another three from Carlson brought the Jets within five points. The Jets and the RiverHawks would trade points to end the half, NSU up 50-41.
– Valeriya Lioukina and Martin would both continue the Jets' good form from behind the line, each sinking two free throws. The RiverHawks didn't slow down, also strong from the line, going 19-for-20 from behind the free-throw line. Martin would bring the Jets within four points, drawing a foul at the basket, making both free throws. The third period would end with the Jets trailing 60-66.
– Lioukina would start the fourth for the Jets with two made free throws. In a game where both teams were having dominant free-throw performances, points would continue to go back and forth. Martin would add another three-pointer to her total for the night. After the fourth period, the Jets would fall 72-88.
