WICHITA- Newman hosted Washburn on Saturday afternoon for senior day. Game one would go to the Ichabods, 9-0. 

Game one: NU 0, WU 9 (5 Inn.)
The Jets were held to just two hits in game one versus Washburn. The Ichabods scored two to open the game, followed by four in the second, one in the third, and two in the fifth to end the game through five innings. Malie Noda and Kinley Powell were the two Jets to record a hit in game one. Ichabod pitcher Sadie Walker pitched five complete innings to shutout the Jets, recording eight strikeouts through 19 batters faced. Washburn tacked on four more in the top of the second to take an 8-0 lead. 

Game Two: NU 2, WU 11 (5 Inn.)
Four runs by the Ichabods in the top of the first inning would give WU a 4-0 lead. The Jets recorded two hits in the bottom of the opening inning, but couldn't push a run across the plate. The Jets scored their first run in the bottom of the second. Lauren McNaught led off the inning with a triple. McNaught would later score on an error by the Ichabods to make the score 8-1. The Ichabods would go on to score three unanswered runs through the third and fourth to extend their lead out to 11-1 The Jets would score one run in the fifth. McNaught would score for the second time in the game, after reaching base on a single, and stepping across the plate on another Ichabod error. Newman would be unable to add anymore in the fifth, ending the game. Through five, the Jets fell 11-2. 

Player Notes:
- McNaught led the Jets through game two with two hits, scoring twice. 
- Travia Smith was credited with one RBI in game two. 

Softball is back in action next Friday at Fort Hays State, beginning at 2 PM.
