Newman University Athletics

Josh Rupp is entering his second year as an assistant coach with the Newman tennis program in 2017-18.

Rupp is in his second stretch with the Jet tennis program, and leads on-court instruction of the men’s team. He was previously the Newman men’s coach from 2006-11.

Rupp helped the Newman men to their first appearance in the Heartland Conference title match in 2011, as well as their first end-of-year regional ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in their NCAA history, finishing No. 12 in the South Central Region in 2010. In his first year back with the Jets in 2017, they once again reached the conference championship match.

He was also a tennis profession at the Riverside Tennis Center and Genesis Health Club in Wichita from 2000-11, providing lessons to scholastic-aged children and adults, and running U.S. Tennis Association tournaments. He performed the same duties at a trio of clubs in New York from 2011-12 before returning to Kansas to complete his education.

The Wichita native received his bachelor’s degree in 2013 and his master’s degree in 2016, both from Wichita State University.
