Hollis Mitchell

Hollis Mitchell is entering his first season as an assistant coach for Men's Basketball. 

Mitchell spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach and director of player development at Ottawa University. He helped the Braves to a 21-11 finish in 2021/22 and a 12-17 finish in 2022/23. Mitchell was also the director of the junior varsity program and head coach of the varsity reserve team. 

Mitchell graduated from Ottawa University in 2018 with his degree in psychology. He was a four year letterman and three year starter under head coach Aaron Siebenthall. Mitchell was a 1,000 point scorer, a two-time All-KCAC performer, was named to the KCAC All-Defensive Team, and is ranked fourth in the OU record book in career assists with 350.

Mitchell earned his masters in positive psychology and coaching psychology at the University of East London. While at East London, he played in the BUCS Premier League. Mitchell averaged 16 points, 6.3 assists, two rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game during the 2019-20 season.

Mitchell also worked for Drive 5 Sports in Kansas City, Kansas. as an assistant coach for the 17U group on the Under Armour Rise Circuit. At Drive 5, Mitchell helped the players focus on development, assisted with private instruction along with shooting clinics and camps. He also did daily group development with grades ranging from 2nd to 11th grade.
