Noel Torres is entering into his sixth season on staff for the Jets in the 2025-26 season.
Torres returned to Newman prior to the start of the 2024-25 season for a second stint as the assistant coach for the Newman Wrestling program. Torres was previously on Newman's staff from 2018 to 2021.
Torres brings knowledge and experience to the Newman Wrestling in many ways. As a wrestler at Newman, he suffered season-ending injuries three straight years. After redshirting a season, Torres went 39-4 and became a national champion by claiming the 184-pound title in 2017-18. Torres won Newman its first NCAA DII national championship at the 2018 national tournament in Cedar Rapids.
After his wrestling career at Newman, Torres went on to compete for Mexico on the world stage. His unmatched work ethic and experience will help Newman Wrestling continue to grow as a program. Torres was a state champion at Emporia High School in his senior season.
The Emporia, Kansas native graduated from Newman University with his bachelors in 2017. He earned an MBA in 2019.
Torres resides in Wichita.
