Zach Brake is entering into his sixth year at Newman, fourth as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Communications in 2025-26.
Brake is responsible for the execution of sponsorships and branding alignment while managing all publications, both print and digital, throughout the sports seasons. He has served on numerous committees including the MIAA Basketball Tournament Committee (2022 - Pres.) and MIAA Technology Task Force (2024). Brake served as the primary media contact for the 2024 NCAA Division II Wrestling National Championships hosted by Newman at Park City Arena (Formerly Hartman Arena).
The Assistant AD is an adjunct professor at NU, teaching in the Sports Media and Promotion program. Some courses include Organization and Administration of Sport, Facility and Event Management, and Social Media & Fan Engagement.
In 2021-22, the Columbus, Ohio native was responsible for coverage of all 19 of Newman's sports teams. His coverage includes releases on newmanjets.com, production of the JetCast, in game statistics and multimedia production for over 50 team social media pages.
Some featured pieces of his include the logo and brand redesign released in September of 2021 and the announcement of Newman's full membership into the MIAA in June of 2022.
Brake joined Newman as a Graduate Assistant for Athletics in the fall of 2020. After earning his MBA in Data Analytics from Newman in August of 2021, he took over the communications role for Newman Athletics.
Prior to Newman, Brake earned a B.A. in Global Management with an emphasis in Supply Chain and Operations Management from Earlham College in May of 2020. During his time at EC, Brake was a pitcher for the Quakers over three seasons. Brake spent one season as a member of the Saint Joseph's College Pumas baseball team prior to the school's closing in May of 2017.
Brake and his wife, Rylee, reside in Wichita.
