DALLAS, Texas - An early goal by
Amanda Knabe led the Newman women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Dallas Baptist Friday evening in Dallas, Texas.
Knabe needed just better than five minutes to put the Jets on the board, scoring unassisted to give the Jets a 1-0 edge at the 5:50 mark of the first half.
Heather Baloga added another goal 23 minutes later, putting a corner kick from
Lacey Alost past DBU keeper Haley Corbell and into the back of the net, giving the Jets the 2-0 edge they would go on to win by.
The Jets out-shot the Patriots 14-13. Newman keeper
Christina Farid fended off five DBU shots on goal, while Corbell recorded six saves.
Newman will extend its weekend in Texas with a visit to Odessa where they will face the Texas-Permian Basin Falcons in a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
