Newman (10-19, 5-6) posted 13 kills on 23 attempts and committed just one error on their way to a .522 percentage, while Panhandle State (1-23, 0-11) found 14 kills on 31 attempts, but committed six errors for a .258 percecntage. The Aggies kept it close, but the Jets were able to pull away at the end for the 25-19 first-set victory.

Newman tightened up its defense, and took advantage of a flurry of Aggie errors over the final two sets to take control of the match. OPSU never hit better than .036 in the final two sets as the Jets cruised to the easy sweep.

Bennett's 11 kills led all offensive players in the match, while Lauren Poe added nine kills. Brianna Witsman and Chelsey Potter each finished with eight kills in the Newman win. Potter also led the Jets defensively, posting 12 digs to set up Caroline Painter's match-high 23 assists.

Witsman also made a habit out of finding weak spots in the OPSU serve receive, finishing with five aces in the match.
