GAME 3 - MIDWESTERN STATE AT NEWMAN
-- Jets Host Mustangs in Homecoming Contest --
Notes
-Newman's homecoming contest will feature a battle of the unbeatens as defending Lone Star Conference champion Midwestern State brings its 3-0 record to Fugate Gymnasium to face the 2-0 Newman Jets. Midwestern has won each of its three games by 11 or more points, while the Jets have won each of their games by 13 points or more.
-Both teams took on NCAA Div. I opponents in pre-season exhibition contests. Midwestern State dropped a 74-65 decision to Texas-San Antonio, while the Jets fell 81-69 to cross-town opponent Wichita State, before dropping a 77-58 decision four days later at pre-season Sun Belt favorite North Texas.
-Midwestern State was picked to win the Lone Star Conference South Division by the conference's coaches, sports information directors, and selected media. Newman was picked to finish fifth in the Heartland Conference.
-Saturday's homecoming contest will be a true homecoming of sorts for Midwestern State's Jon Trilli. Trilli's brother, Ryan, plays basketball for Newman, and his dad, Vic (a Midwestern State alum, former player, and former assistant coach) is the Newman Athletic Director.
