GAME 9 - MISSOURI WESTERN AT NEWMAN
-- Jets Host Final Pre-Conference Tune-Up --
Notes
-Newman looks to snap a four-game skid when they host MIAA foe Missouri Western Mondayday evening at Fugate Gymnasium. The Griffons bring a 1-6 record into the contest, and are on a three-game skid of their own after dropping their first three MIAA games of the season to Pitt State (60-43), Emporia State (71-62), and Fort Hays State (75-61). Like Newman, MWSU's only win of the season came in Colorado, where they defeated UC-Colorado Springs, 52-43, at the UCCS Thanksgiving Classic. Newman's only win of the season came in Denver where they knocied off the College of Saint Mary, 73-54.
-Through seven games this season, the Griffons have been led by Jessica Koch who averages 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
-While Newman is playing its second game in three days, the Griffons have been idle since their 75-61 loss at Fort Hays State on Dec. 12.
Tonight's contest is just the second meeting between these two teams, and the first trip to Wichita for the Griffons. Missouri Western won the last meeting in a 98-45 decision over Newman on Dec. 6, 2004, in St. Joseph, Mo.
