WICHITA - The Newman volleyball team hosts its only non-conference match of the season Tuesday evening as Central Oklahoma pays a visit to Fugate Gymnasium for the annual "Dig Pink" breast cancer awareness game. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.

Newman brings an 9-11 record into Tuesday's match after going 1-1 in Heartland Conference play last weekend. The Jets suffered a 3-1 loss to Texas-Permian Basin Thursday in Odessa, Texas, but rallied for a 3-0 sweep of Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday in Goodwell, Okla. Newman is led by Chelsey Potter, a 5-7 senior who owns 192 kills, and is sixth on Newman's all-time career attacks list with 2,277 attack attempts. Potter is also second on the Newman squad defensively, with 184 digs.
Central Oklahoma, meanwhile, is 14-7 this season, but has lost two-straight after back-to-back sweeps by Abilene Christian and Angelo State. The Bronchos are 2-0 against Heartland Conference teams this season, and are led by Zuela Adom, a 5-9 senior who has posted 270 kills this season. Kristen Wilson has 215 kills of her own as the only Broncho with more than 200 kills. Fleming Smurthwaite is UCO's primary setter this season. The freshman has 591 set assists this season. Defensively, the Bronchos look to Ginger Gowen, who owns 362 digs this season.
