Slowly but surely, St. Edward's battled back, pulling to within three at 15-12, but Newman never surrendered the lead en route to a 25-21 second-set win to tie the match at 1-1.

That was where the good news ended for the Jets. St. Edward's jumped out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back. A late 4-1 run pulled the Jets to within two at 20-18, but the Hilltoppers scored the final five points of the set for the 25-18 win. SEU followed that with a dominating 25-13 win in the final set to secure the Hilltopper win
