Jets Drop Second-Straight, 84-82

LAREDO, Texas - The Newman men's basketball team saw a double-digit halftime lead disappear in two minutes as the Texas A&M International Dustdevils upset the Jets, 84-82, Thursday night at the Kinesiology Building in Laredo, Texas. Jaray Mathews scored 17 points to pace the Jets in their second-consecutive loss.

Due to statistical errors, a complete play-by-play account of the game was unavailable following the contest.

With 17 points, Mathews was one of three Jets to post double figures in the contest. Chip Steven added 11 points, while Jake Darby finished with 10. Battling illness, Keaton Schultz finished with just nine points, but hit both of his three-point shots to boost his three point field goal percentage, which led the nation coming into the game. Mathews also led the Jets in rebounding, grabbing five boards.

St. Paul Latham gave the Jets fits all night, finishing with 32 points to pace TAMIU. Newman forced 16 turnovers, but TAMIU out-rebounded the Jets 33-23 in the game.
