Alison Petrillose scored her first goal of the season and led the Newman women's soccer team to a 2-2 tie with Texas-Permian Basin Sunday afternoon in Odessa, Texas.
Christina Farid added 10 saves in the contest.
- UTPB got off to an early start after Hannah Dozier stole a Newman defender's pass in the fourth minute, sending it across the box to Lyndsey Thomas who gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
- The Jets responded in the 25th minute when
Bianca Torres blasted a shot from 15 yards outside the box and beat UTPB's keeper for a 1-1 tie that was carried into halftime.
- Newman took the lead just three minutes into the second half after a UTPB penalty awarded
Alison Petrillose a free kick from outside the box.
Petrillose netted the shot to give the Jets a 2-1 advantage.
- The Falcons responded in the 61st minute when Dozier recieved a pass from Elyssa Hawkins and beat Newman keeper
Christina Farid from 15 yards out to tie the match, 2-2.

Farid posted ten saves in the match and slid to 4-9-4 on the season with the tie.

Bianca Torres led the Jets' offense with eight shots.
Alli Zingo was next in line with four. Eleven Jets fired shots in the match.
- The Jets out-shot UTPB 29-18 in the contest including an 11-5 advantage in the first half.
- Newman held a 6-1 corner kick advantage in the game.
- UTPB was called for 11 fouls in the contest while Newman was charged with nine.
- Three yellow cards were issued in the match. The first went against Newman's
Tori Hostick in the 45th minute while the remaining cards went against UTPB's Nicole Rodine and the Falcon bench both in the 120th minute.
With the tie the Jets move to 4-9-4 on the season and 2-6-2 in Heartland Conference play. They will await the results of Tuesday's Texas A&M International vs. Texas-Permian Basin match to determine whether they will make the Heartland Conference Championship tournament.
