Three days after concluding a weekend that brought the top two teams in the Heartland Conference to Wilkins Field, Newman looks for its first Heartland Conference win of the season with a 7 p.m. contest against Texas-Permian Basin.

Newman enters the game riding momentum from a 0-0 tie with No. 19 St. Edward's Saturday afternoon. Keeper Christina Farid, who was named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, turned away 14 Hilltopper shots while pitching her second shutout of the season. The Jets are led offensively by sophomore Celia Myers, who owns four goals on 21 shots this season, but has missed each of the last two games due to injury. Sophomore Lorielle Slates is next in line with two goals in three starts. Freshman Kayla Strong owns a team-best two assists in 2011.

Texas-Permian Basin, meanwhile, enters Tuesday's game with a 1-7 record, and has lost six-straight after a 1-0 win over Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 4 in Odessa, Texas. The Falcons have scored just five goals this season, four of which have come off the boot of Hannah Dozier. Alexandra Sobrino is responsible for UTPB's only other goal this season. The Falcon defense has allowed 26 goals, 15 of which have been scored in the first 45 minutes of play.
